Hawthorne Boulevard 2015 HOLIDAY STROLL
Enjoy the Holiday Season in Classic Portland Style
Portland, Oregon: The Hawthorne Boulevard will be lit up with festive snowflake decorations and strolling carolers during the annual Hawthorne Holiday Stroll on Saturday, December 5th of 2015.
The music will brighten the street as local businesses offer special incentives for gift and holiday shoppers to explore new businesses and old favorites. A Holiday Stroll Gift Guide will also be distributed through the Portland Mercury on the Wednesday prior.
“Hawthorne Boulevard has become one of Portland’s most popular shopping destinations in recent years,” according to Marina Martinez, owner of HAWTHORNE GHOST TOUR. “It’s a cultural treasure with an amazingly spooky history.” she adds.
Nancy Chapin, owner of TSG Services notes that, “Dozens of new shops have opened up in the last 12 months offering everything from locally-made gifts, terrariums, jewelry, gourmet donuts, a fairy gallery, natural fiber clothing, bee-keeping supplies, antiques, glass smoking pipes, vintage furniture, and of course, lots more great food and drink.”
The Holiday Stroll is the Hawthorne District’s annual Saturday to strut its stuff in preparation for the holiday gift buying season. This year’s Holiday Stroll will include:
• Special offers from area merchants to save shoppers money on all kinds of gifts
• Carolers and A cappella singing groups from area faith communities and schools
• Snowflake Decorations in store windows all along the Boulevard
• A Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 pm at the Fernie Brae on 40the & Hawthorne
“We just opened our shop in January of this year” said Gregg Harris, owner of Roosevelt’s Terrariums. “and the community has received us with open arms.”
